Biography
TJ has executive oversight for the organization’s employee experience, ESG, internal and corporate communications, governance and corporate support, as well as legal affairs. He started his career as a labour and employment lawyer and transitioned into the human resources and people experience field, where he has worked in progressively more senior roles since the early 2000s.
Before joining Prospera in June 2017, TJ was Chief Human Resources Officer at a fast-growing organization of more than 10,000 employees in nearly 200 cities across North America. This experience included significant merger, acquisition and integration work.
A passionate advocate for people-focused HR management, TJ is a part-time instructor at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. In 2020 and again in 2025, TJ co-authored a textbook on employment law for business and HR professionals that is used by students across Canada.
TJ is an active board member with many organizations and trade associations and has earned his Institute of Corporate Director designation (ICD.D). He is a board member and Committee Chair with the Credit Union Pension and Benefits Trust, a government-appointed member of the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC board, as well as a board member with the Chief Isaac Group of Companies, a Yukon-based Indigenous economic development corporation. He previously chaired the boards representing HR professionals in BC, Canada and across North America.
He is a committed, lifelong learner, holding a designation as a Chartered Professional in Human Resources as well as a Senior Certified Professional with the US Society for Human Resource Management. He holds a bachelor of Common Law (J.D.) and a bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) from McGill University, and a bachelor of Social Science from the University of Ottawa. In 2018, TJ was granted the honorary title of Fellow Chartered Professional in Human Resources by CPHR Canada.
