Kirsten McElgunn

Biography

Kirsten has strategic and operational oversight of product innovation, brand stewardship, marketing and member engagement, the Member Service Centre and overall business development activities, including the Broker Channel.

Kirsten started at Prospera as the Vice President of Marketing and Member Engagement in September 2020 and joined the Executive Leadership Team as the Chief Product and Strategy Officer in March 2022. Kirsten brings over 20 years of business and consumer marketing expertise. Prior to joining Prospera, Kirsten consulted and acted as a marketing strategist and fractional CMO for financial services and technology companies around the globe, including two local companies, TuGo Travel Insurance and Omnae, a SaaS-based start-up in the manufacturing space. She previously held the roles of Chief Marketing Officer at Commonwealth Foreign Exchange, and Global Marketing Vice President for Western Union Business Solutions. Prior to that, she was with TELUS for 11 years and was the Director of Consumer Marketing.

As part of the Ashoka Executive in Residence in 2012, Kirsten traveled to India to work with the Mann Deshi Foundation supporting rural women entrepreneurs. She currently serves on the boards of The Prospera Foundation, Finca Canada, Do Some Good, The Credit Union Foundation of BC and Collingwood School.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Econometrics from the University of Victoria and completed executive training such as Governance Essentials at Rotman School of Business and The Women’s Leadership Forum: Innovation Strategies for a Changing World at Harvard Business School.
