Prospera Credit Union presents Surrey’s Stay at Home Gala

Surrey, BC – April 24, 2020
An unprecedented event for unprecedented times

Prospera Credit Union is proud to be the presenting sponsor of Surrey’s one-of-a-kind Stay at Home Gala on May 2 from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The virtual gala will join hundreds of Canadians across the country and has all the familiar elements of a gala: game-changing speakers, local entertainers, silent auction, and more.

The evening event will unite people from across the nation and all proceeds from ticket sales will be directed towards community efforts that manage the effects of COVID-19. After purchasing a ticket, attendees will receive a link to log on to the virtual gala.

“It’s important to us at Prospera to host the Stay at Home Gala in Surrey because we’ve all felt the impact of COVID-19. This event gives us a chance to connect as a community and have some fun while supporting local COVID-19 relief efforts,” says Maury Kask, Chief Marketing and Member Experience Officer at Prospera.

Social distancing at its finest, the event encourages attendees to don their best, log on, and dine together. The physically distanced soiree will be hosted by ET Canada’s Erin Cebula and decorated Olympian Hayley Wickenheiser, among others. All proceeds will go to the Community Foundations of Canada.

The Surrey portion of the event will welcome local guest speakers and entertainers as part of the Surrey program with music from two-time Canadian Idol contestant Greg Neufeld and Abbotsford’s Spider Lodge, as well as a rousing talk from Julie Angus, the first woman to row across the Atlantic Ocean. There will also be a magician performing and a bartending lesson from The Bar Guy, who will be showing us how to whip up delectable drinks from home.

“COVID-19 is challenging many of our community’s norms, but there is one that it won’t ever change and that is our community’s generosity and will to help one another.” To register and learn more visit and for more information on the national event please contact

Surrey, BC – April 16, 2020

Prospera announced today a donation of $25,000 to Kids Help Phone and Anxiety Canada to help address the sharp increase in mental health needs of those in our communities who have been impacted by COVID-19. The donation will be split evenly between the two organizations. Additional donations will be made over the coming months to help support both the people and organization that are impacted by COVID-19 and its economic consequences.

“Prospera has always partnered with the communities that we work and live in, especially in times of greater need”, says Gavin Toy, President and CEO of Prospera.

“Now, more than ever, the Prospera community team is working hard to support established relationships and grow new ones to support our communities,” says Toy. “In addition to these donations, we will also be matching employee monetary donations up to $10,000 to Food Banks BC. This group provides support for food banks across the province, assisting over 80,000 individuals in need each month.”

Prospera will join credit unions across Canada in support of the Stay at Home Gala on May 2, as a presenting sponsor. The proceeds from this event, which aims to raise $1M, will go to charities across Canada that have been most impacted by COVID-19.
